ANKI TO FLASHCARD HERO SOFTWAREFurthermore, as I think Arthaey mentioned in an earlier post, the developer is eager to continually improve the software and respond to user feedback, which is always a plus. AnkiApp (was AnkiApp Flashcards) is a simple, efficient, flashcard app that lets you study at your own pace, whenever you have time. It has a simple yet intuitive interface with lots of customisable options, as well as smooth side-swipe haptic navigation, and it lets me sync files automatically in Dropbox folders. ![]() Nevertheless, I have used several spaced repetition flashcard apps over the last decade (e.g., Pauker, Declan, iFlash, Mnemosyne, Memrise, Quizlet, Cram when it was better known as Flashcard Exchange, and various incarnations of Anki), and my favourite so far and the one I currently have on my iPod is Flashcards Deluxe. I also like to hold a tangible physical artifact of my learning in my hands, one that has real offline dog-eared form and hard-earned teacup rings, which is not simply composed of bland bytes and fluffy digital clouds. ![]() This is partly down to my love of cursive writing (something I picked up whilst learning the Russian cyrillic alphabet), and partly because I suspect the more intricate and attentive hand-eye coordination and motor movements involved in handwriting lead to enhanced encoding in memory. Always one to incorporate both old and new technologies in my studies, I currently favour good old-fashioned pen and paper with my own spaced review strategy these days. ![]()
